Big news for students, as according to the new UK visa fees update, the fees for a UK visa and the IHS have both been raised. Fee increases for immigration and nationality to pay for essential services are due to take effect on October 4.

Due to the UK visa fees increase, the fee for a visit visa lasting less than six months will increase by £15 to £115, while the fee for a student visa application made from outside the UK will increase by £127 to £490 in order to match the cost for applications made from within the nation.

The government announced price increases of at least 20% for priority visas, study visas, and certificates of sponsorship in July, as well as a 15% rise in the cost of the majority of work and visit visas.

The Changes in UK Visa Update 2023

  • Fees for visit visas up to 6 months, 2 years, 5 years, and 10 years.
  • The bulk of entry clearance costs as well as some applications for UK visas, including those for employment and study.
  • Fees for both an indefinite entry permit and an indefinite stay permit.
  • Conventional travel documents and travel documents for stateless people.
  • Visa for Health and Care.
  • Fees for sponsorship certificates and letters confirming enrollment in courses.
  • The super priority service’s in-country and out-of-country fees as well as the priority service’s out-of-country fees.  In order to be in line with the price of utilizing the priority service, the settlement priority service will be reduced.
  • Requests to Naturalize and Register as a British Citizen.
  • The cost of the service for user-paid visa applications.

Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) Update

The immigration and nationality costs will rise beginning on October 4, 2023, subject to parliamentary approval. The proposed increase to the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), which is expected to be implemented later in the autumn, is not included in today’s revisions. However, the expected change in IHS is from £624 to £1035.

Reasons and Benefits of this revision amount

The Home Office’s capacity to manage a viable immigration and nationality system is critically dependent on the income from fees collected.

When determining fees, care is taken to minimize the financing contribution from British taxpayers while maintaining a service that is appealing to individuals looking to work in the UK and promoting overall prosperity for everybody.
