Courses Offered by Commonwealth Scholarship

The scholarship is provided under the following six schemes:

  2. Access, inclusion, and opportunity.
  3. Science and technology for development.
  4. Promoting global prosperity.
  5. Strengthening resilience and response to crises.
  6. Strengthening health systems and capacity.


Science and Technology For Development

Furthermore, Commonwealth Scholarships are offered in any area of science or technology (including, for example, agriculture, veterinary science, or forestry), to develop knowledge and/or skills that are directly related to the specific needs of a low or middle-income country. However, Where possible, applications should cite expressed national or local priorities.

Strengthening health systems and capacity

Moreover, In order to improve health provision or outcomes for disadvantaged groups in low- and middle-income countries, Commonwealth Scholarships support the development of knowledge and/or skills across a range of approaches. In addition, These approaches include training staff to fill critical shortage areas; establishing better systems, processes, or management; health promotion and improving understanding of non-take up, and developing new treatments.

Promoting global prosperity

Besides, Commonwealth Scholarships help to support economic prosperity in low- and middle-income countries. Furthermore, Commonwealth Scholarships are awarded in subjects that address a broad range of threats, including natural, and physical disasters; long-term threats such as climate change; interruptions to the supply of key resources; and sudden economic or technological disruption and developing new treatments.

Access, inclusion, and opportunity

Benefits of Commonwealth Scholarship for Pakistani Students

  • Tuition fees
  • Airfare for home country to UK and return.
  • Stipend amount of £1,084 or £1,330 per month.
  • The Pakistani student is provided with a warm cloth allowance.
  • Grants for study-related travel.
  • Allowance to visit home during mid-term.
  • £233 per month spouse allowance.
  • £465 per month child allowance.

Eligibility Criteria of Commonwealth Scholarship for Pakistani Students

  • The student must be a citizen of Pakistan or AJK.
  • The student must be serving as a professor at an HEC-recognized university and have an experience of 1 year for the same.
  • The Pakistani student is required to be under one of the themes.
  • The Pakistani student must be available before the academic year of UK which is September /October of the year.
  • The Pakistani student must not be registered at a UK university for a master’s and Ph.D.
  • The Ph.D. Pakistani applicants must have first-class in their academics.
  • The Pakistani student must not have a third division in any of their academic years and a second division is spared for about two years not more than that.
  • Pakistani students must not be financially able to support their education in UK.

Apply Procedure of Commonwealth Scholarship for Pakistani Students

Besides, The Pakistani student needs to apply both on the commonwealth website, and the HEC website and if the Pakistani students failed to do so they will not be considered for the scholarship. Furthermore, The following documents need to be uploaded, and the procedure needs to be followed.

  1. HEC online application form by applying online on their online portal.
  2. Commonwealth online application form for Masters and Ph.D.
  3. Citizenship proof is a passport issued by the GOV of Pakistan.
  4. Letter of reference from two people.
  5. Detailed academic record, all the transcripts being verified by the HEC Pakistan.
  6. Statement of purpose.
  7. Equivalence for a foreign degree.
  8. Copies of CNIC.
  9. Domicile certificate.
  10. Study and research plan.

Application Procedure of Commonwealth Scholarship for Pakistani students

  1. In addition, The commonwealth UK does not accept direct applications, Furthermore, the Pakistani student must apply beforehand at HEC.
  2. However, The HEC conducts an interview and a test for all the shortlisted candidates.
  3. Moreover, The HEC can disqualify a candidate in case of false information.
  4. Furthermore, All the documentation must be completed at HEC and commonwealth in due time by the deadline.
  5. The HEC selects an equal proportion of males and females.
