ADB–Japan Scholarship Program 2027

The ADB–Japan Scholarship Program (ADB–JSP) is a prestigious, fully funded scholarship program administered by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and funded by the Government of Japan. The scholarship was established to provide talented students from ADB developing member countries, including Pakistan, with the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies at selected universities in the Asia-Pacific region.

The scholarship aims to support students who have strong academic backgrounds and leadership potential so they can contribute to the social and economic development of their home countries after graduation.

ADB–Japan Scholarship Program mainly supports Master’s degree programs in fields related to Economics, Business, Management, Science and Technology, Public Policy, Development Studies, Environment, and other development-related areas.

The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, travel costs, health insurance, and other academic expenses. (adb.org)

How to Apply

Applicants must first apply for admission to an eligible participating university under the ADB–Japan Scholarship Program.

Students should indicate interest in the ADB scholarship during the university admission process if applicable.

After admission review, universities nominate eligible students to ADB for final selection.

Applications are submitted directly through participating universities rather than to ADB. (adb.org)

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must be a citizen of an ADB borrowing member country (Pakistan included)
  2. Must have gained admission to an approved Master’s program at a participating institution
  3. Must hold a Bachelor’s degree with strong academic performance
  4. Must have at least two years of full-time professional work experience after university graduation
  5. Must be proficient in English communication and writing skills
  6. Must be in good health
  7. Must agree to return to the home country after completion of studies for at least two years (adb.org)
