How to Apply

Students cannot directly apply for the Vanier Scholarship independently. Applicants must first be nominated by a Canadian university that has a Vanier CGS quota.

The general application process includes:

Apply for admission to an eligible Canadian PhD program

Contact supervisors or departments if required

Request a nomination from the university

Complete the Vanier scholarship application through the ResearchNet system after nomination

Submit all required documents before the official deadline

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must be nominated by only one eligible Canadian institution with a Vanier quota
  2. Must be pursuing their first doctoral degree
  3. Must intend to pursue full-time doctoral studies in Canada
