Eligibility Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree (for Master’s) or relevant Master’s/Undergraduate degree (for PhD) is required.

  2. English Proficiency:

    1. Sabancı does not accept IELTS for graduate admission.
    2. Instead, other accepted English exams include TOEFL iBT (min 78), PTE (min 48), or CAE/CPE.
    3. If you don’t have a valid English test score, you may take the Sabancı English Language Assessment Exam (ELAE) after application.

  3. Graduates of Sabancı University: Exempt from the English test requirement if they apply within two years of graduation.

  4. Application Evaluation: Admission may include a written exam, an interview, or both.

Why Sabancı University Does NOT Require IELTS

  • Sabancı University does not accept IELTS for graduate admissions because it is not recognized by Turkey’s official regulations for university-level English verification.
  • Turkish universities follow ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center) rules, which allow specific English exams — IELTS is not one of them.
  • Instead of IELTS, Sabancı accepts other standardized English tests or allows students to take the Sabancı English Language Exam (ELAE) on campus.

  • Letters of recommendation

  • Motivation or research proposal (especially for a PhD)

  • Apply online via the Sabancı University graduate admission portal.

  • If you don’t have TOEFL/PTE/CAE/CPE, register for the Sabancı English Language Assessment Exam (ELAE).

3. Scholarship Consideration

  • All eligible graduate applicants are automatically considered for Sabancı’s merit-based scholarships — no separate scholarship application needed.
