Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is a university in New Zealand, formed on 1 January 2000 when a former technical college (originally established in 1895) was granted university status. AUT is New Zealand’s third-largest university in terms of total student enrolment. It has five faculties, and an additional three specialist locations: AUT Millennium, Warkworth Radio Astronomical Observatory, and AUT Centre for Refugee Education. Data suggests that 86% of AUT’s graduates are employed full-time within nine months of graduating.

Admission Requirements

Bachelor’s

HSC / Intermediate Student is not eligible for direct entry, One year of successful study towards an undergraduate degree at a recognized institute, or through a Foundation year.

A level:  3A levels pass with a minimum C or higher
for Indians: 12 years of schooling and have achieved an overall average of 75% in Indian School Certificate (ISC) or All-India Senior School Certificate (AISSC) with a minimum of 60% in English.

Master’s

Minimum successfully completed bachelor’s degree in the same area of study from a recognized university

6.5 with all bands 6.0 or higher

TOEFL (IBT): Overall 65 with  R15/ L15 / S17 / W18 (U.G)

The Auckland University of Technology Scholarships

AUT Undergraduate Scholarships

June and November each year subject to funding availability
Value of Award: $7,000 contribution to fees
No. of awards: Varies depending on funding
Tenure: The scholarship is awarded for one year only.


Selection criteria:
Applicants must be studying at AUT and be completing their second, fourth or sixth semester of study at the time of application. Applicants should normally either:
(a) achieve a GPA of 7.0 (A-) across a minimum of 120pts in the year of application ( 80%  – 84% )
or
(b) have either contributed at a high level to the University or community or have proven financial hardship and achieved a minimum GPA of 6.5 (B+/A-) across a minimum of 120pts in the year of application ( 75% – 79% )


How do students apply?
Application is through the AUT online scholarship portal from early October or early May each year.
All documentation must be received by the closing date.
A one-page personal statement outlining the applicant’s academic goals and career aspirations.
Applicants must state why they believe they merit the scholarship.

New Zealand AUT-NCUK Excellence Scholarship

Closing date: 31/05/2025

May and November each year
Value: 10,000

Selection Criteria:

  1. Applicants must be full-fee-paying international students
  2. Applicants must have a current and valid conditional or unconditional offer to study at an AUT program (Undergraduate level or above, excluding doctoral and at least 120 points)
  3. Applicants will be asked to provide their AUT Student ID in the box provided on the application form.
  4. Scholarships are available on academic merit.
  5. Applicants with an equivalent B Average or above in their most recent NCUK program (International Foundation Year, International Year One, or Pre-Master’s Programme) is required
  6. Returning AUT students (i.e., students who have already commenced study at AUT) are not considered for application
  7. Applicants must declare if they have applied for other forms of scholarships internally (i.e., awarded by AUT) and externally (e.g., government scholarships).

    The selection committee will take this into consideration.  

    How do students apply?
    Application is through the AUT online scholarship portal.
    Applicants must complete the New Zealand AUT-NCUK Excellence Scholarships application form through the AUT Scholarships Database from the link on this page.
    The aspirant will be asked to indicate under which category (select one only) they wish to be considered and must meet the eligibility criteria under which they are applying. Applicants are required to upload:

    1. Detailed academic transcript with a grading scale of the most recent qualification from NCUK

    2. Graduation certificate or evidence of completion from NCUK

    3. Current and valid conditional or unconditional offer to study at an AUT program.
    All documentation must be uploaded by the closing date otherwise the application will be considered ineligible.
