The University of Victoria (UVic) is a renowned institution for graduate studies, offering a vibrant research environment and various programs. UVic also provides a range of scholarship opportunities to make your graduate education financially achievable. Awards are given based on academic performance, and there is no separate entry process. Students are automatically qualified when they apply to a program.

University of Victoria Graduate Awards and Fellowships

Funding details: UVic Fellowships of up to CAN $17,500 per year (master’s) and CAN $20,000 per year (PhD); UVic Graduate Awards of up to CAN $10,000 per year (master’s and PhD).

Nationality requirement: All international

The course subject you are applying for is not subject-specific.
Selection basis: Academic excellence.
Degree level: postgraduate or doctoral study level.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies awards graduate students with excellent academic standing. Each academic unit determines how to distribute and value these honors and fellowships and for how long.

  1. Students from abroad are qualified.
  2. Admission to UVic for a master’s or doctoral degree must be granted without conditions.
  3. The requirement for consideration is to earn a minimum A-average in the last two years of coursework. You will need more than the necessary qualifications to ensure that you will be given an award.
  4. Full-time enrollment for donor prizes, UVic Fellowships, Graduate Entrance prizes, and President’s Research Scholarships (3.0 units per term)
  5. Students can enrol part-time, taking at least 1.5 units every term under general graduate awards.
  6. The full-time registration requirement is 1.5 units for students enrolled in the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL).
