The Australian National University is a public research university in the Group of Eight. It is present in Australia’s capital city, Canberra. In 1946, it came into existence. In the QS World University Rankings 2024, it ranks #=34 and sixth in Australia and 62nd globally in the 2023 Times Higher Education. ANU fell from 62nd to 67th place globally in the most recent edition of the Times Higher Education rankings. The Master of Engineering program at the Australian National University (ANU) is famous and of high value. Australian National University has a 35% acceptance rate and a reputation for being extremely competitive.

Entry Requirements undergraduate

High School: Year 12 qualification or equivalent.

International Baccalaureate: to maintain a minimum IB of 37 to stand a good chance of getting admission

A-levels: AAA–AAB

Postgraduate

To apply for postgraduate studies, you must already have a bachelor’s degree or be close to finishing one.

English Language requirements undergraduate and postgraduate

IELTS: 6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest)

TOEFL: 80 (minimum of 18 for speaking and listening and 20 for writing and reading)

PTE: 64 overall (min. 55 in each of the communicative skills)

Deadline

Throughout the year, you can apply at any point. Most applications received by the 15th of every month will be considered for an offer on the 1st of the month. You can modify your preferred degree on the ninth and fifteenth of every month. You have two months from the date of the ANU offer to accept it.

All paper applications will cost AUD 150.

Eligibility

A new ANU student is eligible to apply for the scholarship if they:

1. Meets the program requirements for which they have received an offer of admission, including the requirement to be onshore for some components (if applicable),
2.  It is defined as an overseas student under the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 is also exempt from the need to hold a 995 visa (unless enrolling in an eligible postgraduate program) and has received an offer of admission to begin at the University in an eligible program (excluding the programs listed above).
3. Never before was a scholarship awarded for studying at the same level.

Selection

Academic merit is the criterion used for selection. An applicant’s position on the merit list will be decided by converting the qualifications submitted for admission to the university to the expected scale. Applicants who meet the requirements but have more than one qualification will be rated based on the qualification that served as the entry threshold.

Benefits

1. As mentioned, the scholarship will provide a 25% or 50% tuition fee reduction.
2. The decrease is applied to the tuition costs for the length of the undergraduate or graduate degree.
3. Instead of paying the full deposit specified on the admissions offer letter, recipients only need to submit a reduced tuition deposit of AUD 10,000.
4. If recipients decide to use this benefit, they will also be provided housing for their first year of study.

ANU HDR Fee Merit Scholarship

Field of study: All

Eligibility

The following candidates for the award will be eligible each year:

1. is an international student studying in the University’s authorized HDR program
2. has received an ANU University Research Scholarship
3. at least an H1 or H1 equivalent in their previous studies.

The scholarship covers

1. For the length of the grant, it will pay international student fees (ISF).
2. For participants with a student visa (subclass 500), full overseas health coverage (OSHC) is provided for the term of the program, covering the immediate family as well.

Under this award, no extra benefits are provided.
