UQ PhD Industry Placement Scholarship

About this scholarship

This is awarded in recognition of the time commitment required to undertake a placement as part of your candidature.

If you meet the criteria, this scholarship will provide you with:

  • A 3 month extension of to your Thesis Submission Date (up to 3.75 years FTE)
  • 3 month extension of tuition fee offset scholarship
  • A 3 month extension of your living stipend

Eligibility

  • are a Ph.D. candidate
  • are receiving a UQ-funded living stipend
  • have completed a Graduate School coordinated Ph.D. Industry Placement of at least 60 working days*
  • worked with the Graduate School to plan and register your intent to undertake an HDR Placement by submitting and having your project brief approved via myUQ within the first 18 months of candidature

Rules

This scholarship is not useful in conjunction with other living stipend scholarship extensions.

Eligibility

  1. are international students
  2. high school leaver and have achieved an entry rank of 99.
  3. are an undergraduate student or postgraduate student and have achieved a GPA equivalent of 6.75 and above (on the UQ 7-point scale).

And you:

  • have received an unconditional offer to study full-time at UQ commencing Semester 1 or 2, 2024 in an eligible program. This includes most undergraduate and postgraduate programs with a few exceptions.
  • have satisfied the program entry rank and English language proficiency requirements.
  • will enrol full-time.

And you have not:

  • received another scholarship, tuition fee reduction or rebate from UQ.
  • received a full scholarship/sponsorship from another organisation (applicants with partial scholarships/sponsorships may be considered).

How to apply

You don’t need to apply for this scholarship. When you apply to study a program at UQ, you’re automatically in consideration for this scholarship if you meet the eligibility criteria.

About this scholarship

This scholarship supports you to complete a higher degree by research while focusing on a specific project.

Scholarship value $32,192 per annum tax free (2023 rate). Additional funds may be available depending on the project.
Scholarship duration 3.5 years with the possibility of 1 extension in line with UQ and RTP Scholarship Policy.

Rules

A domestic part-time student with carer’s responsibilities, a medical condition or a disability, which prevents them from studying full time may be eligible for scholarship consideration, on a case-by-case basis.
