A public university in Cumbria, it has campuses in Lancaster, Ambleside, and London in addition to its main campus in Carlisle. Its roots can be traced to the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts’ foundation in 1822. Its psychology course is ranked 22nd in England and its law course is ranked 8th in the UK in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2020. St Martin’s College, Cumbria Institute of the Arts, and the University of Central Lanca came together to form the University of Cumbria in 2007 (Guardian University Guide 2020). The University of Cumbria has a 46% acceptance rate.

High school: 2-year Bachelor’s degree.
A-levels: BBB
International baccalaureate: 28 points

Postgraduate

The first division (60%, grade A/B, CGPA 2.75), in a three- or four-year bachelor’s program; OR a four-year bachelor’s program with an average of 45% in mass communications, law, social science, psychology, and English; OR a two-year master’s program.

English Language Requirements Undergraduate

IELTS: 6.0 (each component having a minimum of 5.5)

TOEFL: In total, 72: 18 for reading, 17 for listening, 17 for writing, and 20 for speaking.

Postgraduate

IELTS: 6.5 (each component having a minimum of 5.5)* MA Social Work, MSc Physiotherapy, and MSc Occupational Therapy 7.0, with no section having a score of less than 6.5.

TOEFL: In total, 80 18 for reading, 17 for listening, 17 for writing, and 20 for speaking.

Cumbria Global Scholarships

  1. For most non-EU and non-EEA international students enrolling with us in the academic year 2024–2025, the University of Cumbria is offering an international fee discount scholarship of up to £2,000 (per year of study).
  2. This scholarship is applied automatically to lower your tuition; there is no need to apply.
  3. If you are granted admission to our 2024–2025 academic program, our Admissions Team will indicate the scholarship on your offer letter and indicate a suitable tuition price reduction.
  4. Unless specifically indicated in your offer letter, this prize cannot be combined with any other scholarships or discounts.

The following non-EU scholarships will be available from the university in 2024–2025.

UoC Global Undergraduate Scholarships

The University of Cambridge Global Undergraduate Scholarship offers a £1,000 annual fee reduction for regular full-time on-campus courses (except any Pre-Registration Health courses).

Scholarships for UoC Global Postgraduate Studies: £1,000 tuition reduction for regular full-time on-campus courses (not including Pre-Registration Health courses)

Scholarships for UoC Global MBA: £2,000 off tuition for regular full-time MBA programs taught on campus.
