The University of Ontario Institute of Technology, often known as Ontario Tech University and Ontario Tech, is a public research institution in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. The institute was founded in 2002. Ontario Tech University is ranked #1121 among the world’s best universities. It is ranked 601 overall in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The University has a 70% acceptance rate.

Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (HSC) or Intermediate Examination Certificate minimum academic average of 70 percent
International Baccalaureate (IB): accumulate a grade total of 24 with no score lower than 4 are eligible for admission to the first year.

Postgraduate Entry Requirements

Hold a four-year honors undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry, or a related area, or its equivalent from a recognized institution. The minimum overall academic standing of a B (GPA: 3.0 on a 4.3 scale or 73 to 76 percent)

English Language Requirements

IELTS: Overall score of 6.5 with no sub-score less than 6.0 (Education and Nursing programs require an overall score of 7.0).
TOEFL: 83(Education and Nursing programs require a total score of 87), minimum scaled scores of Listening:20; Reading:20; Speaking:19; & Writing:20
Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: Minimum score of 58.

IELTS: 6.5 (7 for programs in Health Sciences, MA in Education, EdD, MBAI or MFDA

Application Deadlines

Admissions decisions for fall 2024 will be released on a regular basis beginning in January 2025. The deadline to accept an offer of admission will be listed in your offer letter.

Residence applications must be received by this date to guarantee a spot in residence.

Deadline to submit a non-refundable tuition deposit. Applicants must first accept their offer through OUAC in order to pay their deposit.
You can apply to three programs for a $100 application fee.

Ontario Tech University Scholarships

Global Leadership Award (application-based)

If you are an international secondary school student entering an undergraduate program at the university on a study permit and are currently studying outside of Canada, you can apply for the university’s Global Leadership Award (GLA). The GLA is one of our most prestigious entrance awards.
Valued at $72,000 ($18,000 a year for four years), the GLA recognizes international secondary school applicants with strong academic and leadership abilities. Canadian citizens and permanent residents are not eligible for the GLA.

The deadline for the Global Leadership Award is Wednesday, February 15.

International Leaders Award (ILA)

If you are an international secondary school student entering an undergraduate program at the university on a study permit and are currently studying outside of Canada, you may be eligible for the ILA.
The ILA is an entrance award that recognizes high-achieving international students entering an undergraduate program at Ontario Tech University.
Valued at $10,000, this one-year scholarship will be awarded to eligible students who have applied for the Global Leadership Award. A maximum of five will be awarded.
To be considered for the ILA, you must have submitted your application for the Global Leadership Award by the deadline of Wednesday, February 15.

Awards of Recognition

These awards recognize the academic accomplishments of recent Canadian secondary school graduates. If you are an international student who studied at an on-shore secondary school in Canada, you may be eligible to receive an award. The following amounts are automatically awarded in your first year based on your best six 4U/4M courses (or equivalent).

$4,000 – 95 percent or higher
$2,000 – 90 to 94.9 percent
$1,000 – 85 to 89.9 percent
